Cross-flow MBR for the treatment of concentrated and complex wastewater flows
The Cross-flow MBR is based on a membrane filtration process. The biomass is filtered in a filter installation next to the bioreactor. The membrane modules are placed in a pressurized circulation loop located outside the bioreactor. Membrane fouling is prevented by the use of the shear forces created by the cross-flow operation of the membranes.
Prerequisites for the application of cross-flow Membrane Bioreactors:
- concentrated wastewater;
- wastewater that is not easily biodegradable;
- small pore sizes and
- lower flows (< 20m3/h).
